Corporate Video Production: Dealing With Procrastination

Corporate Video Production: Dealing With Procrastination

by | Jun 18, 2020

We’ve all been there, once or twice, in the corporate video production industry or any other job that we’ve had to undertake. We receive an assignment, look up at the clock or the calendar, and take note of how much time you have left on the project.

Fortunately, there seems to be a lot of time left on the clock, which means that you can get it done with time to spare. Instead of doing it right away and taking the rest of the time off, you leave it at the last second, which results in subpar quality and a rushed job.

But if everyone has dealt with procrastination at one point or another, what’s the best way to deal with it? Learn some tips so that your corporate video production project is not compromised.

Understand what is causing your procrastination

One of the first things that you have to do to counter procrastination is by first understanding what is causing the procrastination in the first place. It is too simplistic to say that everyone procrastinates, so it is not unusual to be procrastinating yourself.

The problem with this way of thinking is that it allows you to excuse your behavior with no room for improvement. If you want to improve your professional and personal life, then you should learn to be honest with yourself. Identify the behavior that causes the procrastination so that you begin working on improving it.

Replace the bad habit

Now that you’ve understood what behavior is causing your procrastination, you should figure out what good behavior you can replace it with. Make sure that you don’t choose something too drastic, as this is not going to be sustainable behavior.

For example, if your procrastination is caused by spending too much time on social media and other online applications, then you should look into replacing this behavior with controlled social media use during your work hours.

This isn’t to say that you’re cutting it off entirely, just that you’re controlling it in small increments, which makes for stronger overall control of your online habits and help you beat your procrastination. It’s always important to start small when it comes to changing habits and letting it build up to what you’re aiming for. This is much more sustainable than making huge drastic changes and getting burned out as a result.

Maintain consistency

Of course, like all good habits, the most important thing that you should remember is to maintain consistency in your actions. This is the only way that you can beat procrastination and improve yourself with your corporate video production projects.
